Last year I returned to Australia a couple of times to lay the ground work for a project we are starting up in October (more on this later…!) and popped into Dinner by Heston on the banks of the Yarra in Melbourne to catch up with my mate Ashley Palmer Watts. The entrance to the restaurant is a dark tunnel with no apparent door at the end – it is truly disorientating and clearly a suggestion that you place your faith in the capable hands of the restaurant. Ash showed me about and we shot a few dishes together in the PDR – I used a large flash and soft-box and shot on a black piece of perspex to create something a bit different. The sun sank down behind Melbourne and the city lights came on – a sight I had not seen for 15 years since when I used to live just up the river a few bends (in Melbourne’s South Yarra area). It sure was nice to be back.
